HISTORY:
The Laguna Pigeon Fancier Club was established in 2011 by Gilbert Lalap, Arvin Oruga, Gabriel Maitem and Riz Pedoc after consultation with Sir Joel Ramos, a veteran pigeon fancier and Founder of Laguna Homing Association (LHA) and South Luzon Homing Pigeon Association (SLHA). The idea of establishing a new Pigeon Club in Laguna came into their minds when they met during the 2011 North Race at Mabuhay Racing Pigeon Club (MRPC) wherein they shared their personal experiences regarding the problems existing in their clubs. Some important points were raised during their meeting, such as;
· The problem with the authoritarian attitude of some club president s who made important decisions without any consultation with their members.
· The problem about the geographical distance of loft locations of members from different provinces.
· Absences of written rules and regulations governing the club.
· If there are rules adopted by the club, the lack of strict implementation thereof on the part of the officers.
· Some clubs were established for personal interest of certain persons who use the club as their front to earn money and to gamble and not to
promote the true spirit of pigeon racing.
As a remedy to these problems, Laguna Pigeon Fancier Club (LPFC) was organised. Primarily, LPFC offers a reformed racing system far from the archaic racing system which obviously benefits or favours certain person or group of persons which belong to the so called “circle of friends” of the president. Indeed it is, LPFC’s concern to ensure that the results of its race shall be free from the clouds of doubt. Thus, its records shall be transparent. It is the policy of LPFC to ensure that the corresponding prizes will be given to the real winners whose bird exhibited exemplary performance during the race. LPFC was likewise established for the benefits of all members/fanciers. Therefore unlike any other club organized by a single person to gain money, LPFC was organized for the mutual benefit of all members/fanciers thereof. Its board and officers will not profit from the race.
The proceeds from the sale of racing bands as well as the membership fee shall, after deducting the necessary and incidental legitimate expenses of the club, be distributed as prizes for the winners. Moreover, to encourage all pigeon enthusiasts in Laguna to join its race, LPFC offers an affordable price of band so that the small time fanciers may be given an opportunity to participate in the race. The afore-stated policies are embodied in LPFC’s rules and regulations adopted and approved by the members of the club. To give life and spirit to the said policy, LPFC, thru its Officers, will be strict in the implementation thereof. The said rules are aimed at promoting the pigeon sports by organizing race derbies in Laguna with the end in view of unifying all the diversified pigeon fanciers thereof under a reformed system of pigeon racing..
